Description

The settlement is situated along and in the Bistra, not far from the Technical Museum, northwest of the Mali Otavnik II site. In 2006, the site was discovered by Andrej Gaspari who, based on the findings, placed it in the Late Neolithic period (locally Eneolithic). This was also confirmed by dendrochronological studies. The endangerment situation is not known. Perhaps the larger part of the site is not threatened, but it is placed along the Bistra which can be a serious threat. The stratigraphy is probably excellently preserved. Also the piles are probably preserved. The settlement of Veliki Otavnik I, together with the nearby Veliki Otavnik II site, very likely represent a unified settlement. / The settlement is situated along and in the Bistra, not far from the Technical Museum, northwest of the Mali Otavnik II site.
